The music on this disc has been taken from the documentary presented Henry Louis Gates, Jr. on Public television. In that program, Gates took the audience on a journey from Zanzibar to Timbuktu; from the Nile River Valley to Great Zimbabwe; from the slave coast of Guinea to the medieval monasteries of Ethiopia in search of the lost wonders of the African world.
